Origin & Producer

Grown in the highlands of Nyeri County, central Kenya — a region nestled between the slopes of the Aberdare Range and the foothills of Mount Kenya, where volcanic soils and high-altitude climate create ideal conditions for specialty coffee. Beans are sourced from smallholder farms that cultivate the renowned varietals SL28 and SL34, known for their aromatic intensity and complexity.

Processing

Natural (sun-dried). The cherries are dried whole, preserving and amplifying fruit sweetness, intensity, and body. This method sets this lot apart from the typical fully-washed coffees of Nyeri, delivering a richer, deeper fruit profile and fuller body.

Tasting Notes

  • Aroma: Black cherry, pickled plum, mango — vibrant and fruit-forward on the nose.

  • Cup Flavour: Opens with sweet-sour pickled pineapple, juicy passion fruit, and crisp plum. As the cup evolves, enjoy undertones of grape juice and black cherry, resulting in a rich, full-bodied, and fruit-packed profile.

  • Mouthfeel & Body: Deep, syrupy body with a juicy, wine-like acidity — dense but balanced, with a lingering finish.

Why You'll Like It

While Nyeri coffees often lean toward bright citrus, floral and berry notes through washed processing, this natural-processed lot stands out for its bold tropical fruit intensity, deeper sweetness, and fuller body — a taste profile that invites more indulgent brews (filter, Immersion, Espresso). The union of SL28 & SL34 varietals under high-altitude, volcanic-soil terroir, plus natural drying, yields a coffee that balances Kenyan clarity and acidity with almost wine-like fruit depth.
