Origin Details

High in the mountains of southern Ethiopia sits Bona, a highland area where coffee grows between banana trees and enset plants, often in small family farms passed down for generations.

At elevations of 1,900–2,300 masl, the cooler temperatures slow down cherry development, allowing the coffee to build complex acidity and refined sweetness.

This is the heart of Ethiopian coffee country.

About This Coffee

When we cupped through more than 20 coffees showcased by Eighty Plus, this coffee immediately stood out.

It comes from ALO Coffee, a producer network operating washing stations across Sidama. ALO is known for its disciplined processing and commitment to expressing Ethiopia’s incredible coffee diversity.

What we love about ALO is their philosophy:
great coffee begins with respecting the raw ingredient.

Careful cherry selection, controlled fermentation, and patient drying all work together to highlight the natural beauty of Sidama’s terroir.

Process

Fully Washed

Fresh cherries are pulped soon after harvest and fermented for 36–48 hours to remove the mucilage.

The parchment coffee is then washed with clean highland water before being slowly dried on raised beds for 2–3 weeks under the Sidama sun.

This careful washed process produces a cup that is bright, clean, and beautifully structured.

In This Cup

This coffee is beautifully clean and refined.

Expect bright notes of orange and apricot, layered with a delicate black tea-like finish and a gentle sugarcane sweetness that lingers quietly.

It’s elegant rather than loud — the kind of coffee that reveals more with every sip.
